If you like, we’ll always serve you a "Schnapsal" in Austria. Some like to drink it high up on the summit, others when they are safely back in the valley, and still others in an elegant ambience as an after-dinner digestive. With the "Kupfereule", we have fulfilled our dream: that of having our own distillery. After enjoying our sumptuous evening menu, our guests like to have a coffee and then a digestive schnapps. It's the best way to sleep well if you ask us!

Experiences at the Kupfereule

The homemade liquor distilled at the Kupfereule can of course be enjoyed at our bar at the end of an eventful day in your hiking or ski holiday in Tyrol. If you are interested in learning more, we recommend taking part in our guided tours, tastings, and courses. On these occasions, you will not only be able to taste our fiery products, but you can also learn interesting facts about the varieties and production. Our schnapps tours and tastings are a popular gift among holidaymakers and very loved by our party guests.

A little schnapps lore

Schnapps is a distilled spirit made from fruit or grain. The first time such a drink was produced was a good 1000 years ago in southern Italy. Today, schnapps from Austria is produced using Swiss stone pine, gentian, larch, pear, rowanberry and many other plants and is one of the most popular varieties in the world. That's why we decided to try our hand at it. Incidentally, this delicious drink is called "schnapps" because it is usually drunk in one gulp (the German word “schnappen” means to snatch or grab).
